Fake Apple Store
The Chinese should beware that the new Apple store on the corner might actually be a Fake Apple Store. They look so similar to a legitimate store that many of their customers cannot tell the difference. In fact most of these consumers never have the slightest idea that their Fake Apple Store was not a real Apple store. The reason behind the sudden surge in these stores is the scarcity of real Apple stores in China. Currently there are only two official stores in a nation that holds over a billion people. In a country that’s tablet market is currently dominated by the iPad this is leading to a rampant problem.
Although China has begun to close down these Fake Apple Stores, they have left some open pending Apple’s decision. One such Fake Apple Store was in Chonqing in China. Like real Apple stores, this one included the Apple logo on the front of the store and even emulated their usual store layout. This is not all bad news for Apple though. Even though these stores are not officially licensed by Apple, most actually do sell legitimate Apple products. This means additional revenue for a company who is yearning to increase its footprint in the Asian market. In the past America has been dominated by technology from Asian countries due to lower wage costs and a much larger tech infrastructure. What makes Apple different is that they rely less on the specs behind their products and more on their style. This helps them to make the Asian advantage obsolete. Additionally they are also using the China labor market to build their products. All of these factors play a role in why the Apple company has not been that eager on closing down every Fake Apple Store they find out about.
